    Hiram Fairbanks, the son of Joel and Judith (Bradford) Fairbanks. He was born 2 October 1815 in Turner, Maine and died 18 March 1886 in Auburn, Maine. He was previously married to Nancy Jones. According to Lorenzo Fairbanks (1897), "When a young man he removed to North Monmouth with his father, and became a skillful worker in wood. Later he settled in Auburn, where he pursued the trade of carpenter and builder. He was for a time engaged in the manufacture of doors, sashes and blinds, in Lewiston, with his brother. He was a zealous member of the Court Street Baptist Church."
