    Richard Clifford, the son of Israel and Ann (Smith) Clifford. He was born on 27 March 1698 in Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. On 26 December 1721 Richard, married first Hephzibah Basford, daughter of Jacob Basford and Elizabeth Clifford, in Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. In 1738, Richard signed the petition to create a new parish in the eastern part of Kingston. He and Judith Woodman filed marriage intentions on 17 December 1741 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He died after 1762.
