    • About 1729, he moved to Needham shortly after reaching 21 years old. He purchased a tract of uncultivated land, where he commenced farming, and stayed there until his death. [11, 12]
    • In 1748, he was a Fence Viewer. [5]
    • In 1749, he was appointed the Dearreave [Deer Reeve]. He served again from 1752 to 1759, 1761, 1763 to 1780, 1783 to 1785, and 1787 to 1788. [5, 6]
    • In 1762, he was appointed a Tythingman. He served again in 1767. [5]
    • In 1773, he was elected a Selectman. [5]
    • On 19 April 1775, he fought at the battle of Lexington, Apr. 19, 1775. He was a private in a company of alarm or minute men in the town of Needham, Mass. commanded by Capt. Caleb Kingsbury in Col. Aaron Davis regiment. The muster roll on file at State House, Boston Mass. shows he marched 30 miles and served one day. The distance from Needham to the scene of the conflict was 15 miles which distance was covered by company the preceeding night and early morning of Apr. 19th enabling them to arrive in time to be of service. Several members of this company were killed and others wounded. [5]
    • On 15 December 1777, Thomas Fuller, John Bird and Josiah Ware were chosen a committee "to Provide for the Families of thoƒe Men that have Inliƒted into the Continental army for three Years or During the wars." [5]
