     Pépin ~ King of Italy and Lombardy was born in April 773 at Aachen (Aix-la-Chapell), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Charlemagne ~ Holy Roman Emperor and Hildegarde ~ Countess in Linzgau. Pépin was crowned the King of Italy by his father, Charlemagne, in 781.2,3,6 He was baptized as an adult on 12 April 781 at Rome by Pope Adrian I. He was called at birth Carlolman, but christened Pépin, by which he is known.2,5 Pépin was crowned the King of Lombardy on 15 April 781.2,6
