     Charles Henry Brindle was born on 23 July 1892 at United, Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3,4 He was the son of John George Brindle and Ethel McMichael. Charles Henry Brindleappeared on the US Census of 1900 in the household of John George Brindle and Ethel McMichael at 204 Rose Street, Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1 Charles Henry Brindleappeared on the US Census of 1910 in the household of John George Brindle and Ethel McMichael at Cleveland Ave, Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.5 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Charles was a laborer in a coal mine.5 He and an unknown person obtained a marriage license on 27 August 1912 at Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.6

Charles Henry Brindle, age 20, married Phoebe Lavina Green, age 21 , daughter of David E. Green and Mary Jane Clark, on 28 August 1912 at United Brethren Church, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Their wedding announcement read:

At noon today, Miss Phoebe Green, of Avenue A, daughter of Mrs. Mary Green, was united In marriage at the I united Brethren church by Rev. W, A. Sites, to Mr, Charles Brlndle, of Beat ty. A large number of friends were present to witness the ceremony. Miss Emma" Eaton ' played the wedding march. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the home of Jacob Green, of Avenue C, a brother of the bride.6,7


Charles registered for the draft giving his age as 26; his address as 19 Avenue A, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; and his employer as the Rail Way Steel Spring Company on 5 June 1917 at Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.4 Charles, age 27 years, and Phoebe, age 28 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on 2621 Avenue A, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.8 Charles was He was a stationary engineer in 1920.8 Charles, age 37 years, and Phoebe, age 38 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 2621 Laveen Street, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.9 According to the Federal Census in 1930, Charles was a tractor engineer in a steel mill.9 He died on 26 September 1936 at home on 2621 Laveen Street, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, at age 44 from acute myocarditis.2,3,10,11 Charles's obituary of 28 September 1936, reads:

Charles Henry Brindle

Charles Henry Brindle, 45 years old, of 2621 Laveen street Latrobe, and a bother of Samuel and George Brindle of Connellsville, and engineer of the dinky engine at the Railway Steel Spring Company plant at Latrobe, died suddenly in the engine cab Saturday. He had not been feeling well since stricken with a heart attack four weeks ago but continued working. He had operated the engine onto the scales and when the brakeman signalled (sic) him to continue he slump over. Investigation revealed he was dead.

Mr. Brindle, a veteran employe (sic) of the plant, where he had been working for 21 years, is survived by his wife, five children and these brothers and sisters: Robert of Springdale, George and Samuel of Conellsville, Howard of Altoona, Richard of Brenizer, Mrs. Ralph St Clair of Springdale and Mrs. M. McGinnis of Tarentum.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the United Brethren Church at Latrobe in charge of Rev. W.A.Sites.12


He was buried on 30 September 1936 at Unity Cemetery, Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in section H.3
