Captain David C. Whelpley

     Captain David C. Whelpley was born on 26 December 1833 at New Brunswick, Canada.^1,2 He was the son of William Whelpley and Hannah Walter or Malone.

Captain David C. Whelpley, age 17, married Harriet Jane Pangbourne, age 17 , daughter of Captain Richard Pangbourne and Amy Anna Baker, on 28 June 1851.^3,4 David, age 37 years, and Harriet, age 36 years , appeared on the Canadian Census of 1871 at Lepreau, New Brunswick, Canada.⁵ According to the Canadian Census in 1871, David was a Sea Captain.⁵ David, age 47 years, and Harriet, age 46 years , appeared on the Canadian Census of 1881 at Lepreau, New Brunswick, Canada.² According to the Canadian Census in 1881, David was a Sea Captain. He died on 26 March 1883 at at sea at age 49.^1,3,6 He was buried at Green Mount Cemetery, Montpelier, Vermont. David's epitaph reads:
