     Elizabeth Oakes was born on 13 January 1780 at Stony Brook, Suffolk County, New York.1,2 She was the daughter of Captain John W. Oakes and Hannah Ann Sells.1 Elizabeth Oakes was christened in 1781 in the Smithtown, Suffolk County, New York.3 She died on 3 September 1800 at Stony Brook, Suffolk County, New York, at age 20.3,4 Elizabeth was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Stony Brook, Suffolk County, New York.2

Compeller's Note:
Marriage: Several sources list her as having married William Jacob Cayton and having a middle name of "Rachel". That marriage was recorded in Virginia, and her name was listed as "Rachel". Given her birthdate that meant she was 13 when married. Lastly, her death record gives her last name as "Oakes", not "Cayton". This connection is obviously false..
