     Walter R. Hefferman was born on 5 January 1890 at Port Jervis, Orange County, New York.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of John Hefferman and Margaret E. Sexton. Walter, age 8, appeared on the US Census of 1900 living at Deerpark, Orange County, New York,in the household of his parents, George William and Margaret E. Travis.5 According to the Middletown, New York, City Directory, 1909, he lived in 30 Canal Street, Middletown, Orange County, New York, in 1909 working as a cigar maker. He is listed as Walter Travis.7 Walter, age 22, appeared on the US Census of 1910 living at Canal Stree, Middletown, Orange County, New York,in the household of his step-father, George William and his mothe,r Margaret E. Travis.8 Walter R. Hefferman and an unknown person obtained a marriage license on 4 June 1912 at Orange County, New York.9 He died on 5 January 1969 at Port Jervis, Orange County, New York, at age 79.4,10,11 Walter was buried at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven, Connecticut.10
