Canada Waite was born on 22 January 1678 at New France. Her mother and sister, were taken into captivity, and she was born in what is now Canada, and thus named. She and her mother and sister returned to Hatifield in May 1678.1 She was the daughter of Sgt. Benjamin Waite and Martha Leonard.1
Canada Waite, age 18, married Joseph Smith on 15 December 1696.1 Canada Waite died on 5 May 1749 at age 71.1
