Rufus H. Eddy
     Rufus Harrington Eddy was born in September 1799 at New Salem, Massachusetts.2,3 He was the son of Rufus Eddy and Sarah Harrington.1 Rufus Harrington Eddy was christened on 30 August 1807 at First Church, Petersham, Massachusetts, He was then under the care of Daniel Gale.4 Rufus lived in 1829 at Charlton, Massachusetts. He and Levina Rebecca Johnson filed marriage intentions on 12 April 1829 at Charlton, Massachusetts.1

Rufus Harrington Eddy, age 29, married Levina Rebecca Johnson, age 29 , daughter of Hugh Moore Johnson and Levina Powers, on 11 May 1829 at Petersham, Massachusetts.5,1,6 Rufus Harrington Eddy, age 50 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1850 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.2 According to the Federal Census in 1850, Rufus was a farmer.2 He, 55 years, appeared as Head of Household on the Massachusetts State Census of 1855 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.7 He, age 60 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1860 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.8 Rufus was a farmer in 1860.8 He died on 15 April 1865 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts, at age 65 from consumption.3,6

Compeller's Notes:
Birth: His death record states he was born in Salem, Massachusetts. This is very doubtful, but New Salem, Massachusetts is probably correct.

Marriage Date: Eddy (1930) gives their marriage date as 12 April, but the actual record clearly shows 11 April.3,6,1
