Lyman William Blanchard
     Lyman William Blanchard was born on 15 July 1826 at Readsboro, Vermont.1,2 He was the son of William Blanchard and Hannah ______.

Lyman William Blanchard, age 21, married Angeline H. Goodell, age 28 , daughter of Harvey Goodell and Anna Sherman, on 29 July 1847.3,4,2,5 Lyman William Blanchard, age 23 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1850 at Whitingham, Vermont.6 According to the Federal Census in 1850, Lyman was a mechanic performing miscellaneous repair services.6 He, age 33 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1860 at Whitingham, Vermont.7 According to the Federal Census in 1860, Lyman was a carpenter.7 Lyman registered for the draft at the age of 36 in 1863 at Williamsburg, Massachusetts.8 Lyman, age 38 years, and Angeline, age 45 years , appeared on the Massachusetts State Census of 1865 at Williamsburg, Massachusetts.9 He was recieved by letter into the memberchip of the West Pelham Methodist Episcopal Church in June 1867. He resided in Amherst.10 Lyman William Blanchard, age 43 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1870 at Amherst, Massachusetts.11 According to the Federal Census in 1870, Lyman was a machinist.11 He, age 53 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1880 at Amherst, Massachusetts.12 According to the Federal Census in 1880, Lyman was a bench plain maker.12 According to the 1886 Amherst, Massachusetts, City Directory, he lived on Belchartown Road, Amherst. He was employed by H. D. Fearing & Company.13 He died on 2 June 1895 at West Springfield, Massachusetts, at age 68 from cancer.1,14,2 He was buried at West Cemetery, Amherst, Massachusetts, in lot 342, grave B. Lyman's epitaph reads:

Compeller's Notes:
Death: Many list his death as in Amherst, but the Vital Records state it was in West Springfield. Note, the transcription of the vital records in Ancestry.com, lists it as Belchertown. Close examination of the proceeding and succeeding pages revial that it is West Springfield.
