François Poirier was born at Fort Beauséjour, Colony of Nova Scotia (New Brunswick), British North America.1 He was the son of Michel Poirier and Marie Boudrot.
François Poirier married Marguerite Boudrot, daughter of Anselme Boudrot and Marguerite-Marie Gaudet, before 17 November 1755 at the Beaubassin, Colony of Nova Scotia, British North America.2
François married second on 16 September 1776 at Môle-Saint-Nicolas, Haiti, Marie-Louise Porlier, the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Porlier and Madeleine Grangar. She was born about 1761 in New England, and was christened 16 September 1764 in Mirebalais, Haiti.1
