     Deacon William Ward was born circa 1603 at Yorkshire or Derbyshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Edward Ward.

Deacon William Ward married Elizabeth ______ circa 1638 at England. William was known to be living in 1639 at Sudbury, Massachusetts.5,6 William received a land grant in Sudbury, the date being recorded as 18 (9) 1640.6,7 He was admitted as a freeman on 10 May 1643 at Sudbury, Massachusetts.1,3,5,6,8,9 He was the Representative to the Massachusetts General Court from Sudbury in 1644.1,3,6,8,9,10 He was the Chairman of the Board of Selectman from Sudbury for several years. In 1646, he was one of the Commissioners to End Small Causes.1 On 1656 Deacon William Ward signed the petition to the General Court for the Town of Marlborough.11,10 William was granted land in 1657 at Marlbourough, Massachusetts. William was known to be living in 1661 at Marlbourough, Massachusetts.1,2,3 Deacon William Ward deposed giving his age as about 61 years. The deposition was dated 4 (8) 1664.2,5 He was the Representative to the Massachusetts General Court from Marlborough in 1666.3 He was one of the founders of the church in Marlborough, and was made a Deacon at that time.3 William's home was designated a garrison house, with his son Samuel's and his daughter, Hannah's families assigned to that garrison on 1 October 1675.1 William wrote his will on 6 April 1686 at Marlbourough, Massachusetts.5,6,11,12 He died on 10 August 1687 at Marlbourough, Massachusetts.3,5,6,11,8,9,10
