     John Bement was born on 23 March 1701/2 at Enfield, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of John Bement and Abigail Eggleston. He volunteered to serve against the Indians. From November 1723 to February 1724, he served in Captain Joseph Kellogg's Company as a private and a sentinel. He then served in Captain Timothy Dwight's Company from February to May 1724, and probably later at the blockhouse near Northfield.1,2

John Bement married Rachel Wright, daughter of Benjamin Wright Jr and Hannah Stebbins, in 1725.3,4 He received 3½ acres in the first division of Northfield, Massachusetts in 1731.2

John Bement, age 30, married Mary Severance, age 29 , daughter of Ebenezer Severance and Mary ______, on 17 January 1733.5,6 While serving in the French and Indian War, he was captured at Cold Spring, near Fort Bridgman in Northfield and was taken to Canada. He survived and returned.2 John lived in 1756 at Westfield, Massachusetts.1,2 He died on 22 April 1756 at Westfield, Massachusetts, at age 54.5
