Stephen Payne, the son of Moses and Elizabeth (Sheafe) Payne. He was christened on 7 May 1628 in Tenterden, Kent, England. He emigrated with Moses Payne in 1638. Stephen was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in 1649. He died on Sunday 29 July 1691 in Braintree, Massachusetts.
