  Rev. John Rockwood, the son of Nicholas and Margaret (Holbrook) Rockwood. He was born on 12 February 1662 in Medfield, Massachusetts. There is no record of him being ordained nor of his being licensed to preach. He is often called "Rev." in the records because of his speaking at religious assemblies. John was probably a separatist and helped to establish the Baptist Church in Medfield. He lived in that part of Medfield, that became Medway. On 19 July 1688 John, at age 26, married (1) Bethia Twitchell, daughter of Benjamin and Mary Twitchell, in Medfield, Massachusetts. He served in 1709 in Medfield, Massachusetts, as a constable. He died on Friday 16 December 1746 in Medway, Massachusetts.
