Granville W. Cooper, Jr., passed away on August 29, 2008 at the age of 85.
To his friends and family, he was affectionately known as Coop.
Born on March 5, 1923, he was a U.S. Army World War II veteran having served with the 11th Airborne.
Coop was a Past President and long standing member of the Lower Paxton Lions Club.
He was a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church.
After a successful career with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, Coop relocated to Harrisburg in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. Granville Cooper, Sr., of Butler; his son: Granville Cooper III; and, his brother: Cline Cooper.
Coop is survived by his wife: Melba June Cooper of Harrisburg; his four step-daughters: Judy Brevik, Sharon Reed and husband, Craig, Cecelia Foreman and husband, Ken, and Patti Carlson and husband, Rick; his step-son: Bruce Campbell; and, ten step-grandchildren.
A celebration service of his life will be held at 06:30 p.m., September 02, 2008 in the Crosspoint United Methodist Church, 430 Colonial Road in Harrisburg.
After cremation, Coop will be buried in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. |
