     In the Spring of 1664, the English took control of New Netherlands, and established a fort in Wiltwick, now Kingston. The soldiers under Captian Daniel Brodhead, beat Cornelius and put him in prision for being rebelllious. A commission was established to look into the actons of Captain Brodhead in this and other incounters. The result was most of the been who had been beaten in there homes by soldiers, were put in prision in New York City, Cornelius being one.1

Cornelius Barentsen Slecht married Tryntje Tysen Boz.1 Cornelius Barentsen Slecht and Tryntje Tysen Boz immigrated before 1652 to Esopus, now Kington, Ulster County, New York.1 Cornelius was a miller and a magistrate at Esopus, now Kington, Ulster County, New York.1 He, along with four others, was appointed to the first Board of Schepens for Kingston, New York.1
