John G. Travis

     John G. Travis was born in May 1845 at Wawarsing, Ulster County, New York.^1,2 He was the son of William Travis and Eliza Maria Schoonmaker. John, age 5, appeared on the US Census of 1850 living at Fallsburgh, Sullivan County, New York,in the household of his parents, William and Eliza Maria Travis.³ John G. Travisappeared on the census of 1855 in the household of an unknown person and Eliza Maria Schoonmaker.⁴ John, age 15, appeared on the US Census of 1860 living at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York,in the household of his parents, William and Eliza Maria Travis.⁵ On 24 December 1863, he enlisted in the New York 15th Calvary.² John, age 54 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at Stanford, Dutchess County, New York. He was a widower and a farmer.¹ John, age 64 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 at Stanford, Dutchess County, New York, with his daughter, Catherine. He was a widower and a farmer.⁶ John, age 74 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on Bulls Head Road, Stanford, Dutchess County, New York. He was a farmer.⁷ John, age 84 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on Bulls Head Road, Stanford, Dutchess County, New York, with his uncle, George Nelson and family.⁸ He died on 11 September 1933 at Clinton, Lenawee County, Michigan, at age 88.
