     Sophia Travis was born in 1850 at New York State.1 She was the daughter of William Travis and Eliza Maria Schoonmaker. Sophia, age 20, appeared on the US Census of 1870 living at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York,in the household of her parents, William and Eliza Maria Travis.2
