Sgt. Walter Henry Emich
     Walter Henry Emich Jr. was born on 9 June 1921 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.3,4,5,6 He was the son of Walter Henry Emich and Mildred Kramer.2 Walter Henry Emich Jr. went by the nick-name of Bronco. During World War II, he enlisted 10 March 1944, and was discharged 2 March 1946. He went into the Reserves, and later served during the Korean War, He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant in the Marine Corps.4,6 Walter registered for the draft giving his age as 19 and he was unemployed. in 1946 at 116 Sanford Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.5 He and Anna Catherine Sahr obtained a marriage license on 9 June 1947.3

Walter Henry Emich Jr., age 26, married Anna Catherine Sahr, age 20 , daughter of Louis Leo Sahr and Elizabeth Eleanor Pschirer, on 12 June 1947 at the Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.1,3 Walter, age 28 years, and Anna Sahr, age 22 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at 3110 Universal Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.7 Walter Henry Emich Jr. died on 17 February 2023 at Kennedy Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at age 101.4 Walter was buried at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil, Washington County, Pennsylvania.4 Walter's obituary of 21 February 2023, reads:

Walter H. "Bronco" Emrich, Jr., age 96, of Kennedy Twp., died on Friday, February 17, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Lyda Springer; loving father of Margaret Mary (Dean) Mariani, Michele Sibal, Walter H. (Laura) Emrich, III, Faith Theresa Ashrof and the late Christine Josephine Hurley. Also survived by many grandchildren. Walt was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during WWII and the Korean War, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was also an electrician for the P & LE Railroad. He was member of the U.S. Marine Corps Veterans, Inc., the Mon Valley Leathernecks Marine Corps League, and an at large member of the VFW and the American Legion, participating in the Funeral Honors groups. In his past time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching old western movies. Friends received on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at R. D. COPELAND, LTD., 867 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis, where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caring and Sharing, 5727 Saltsburg Rd., Verona, PA 15147 or the Toys for Tots.
