Nathaniel Carter was born in 1706 at Lancaster, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Samuel Carter and Dorothy Wilder.
Nathaniel Carter married Thankful Sawyer, daughter of Elias Sawyer and Beatrix Pope, on 9 February 1731/32 at Lancaster, Massachusetts.1,2 He was elected as a Selectman on Leominster's first Select Board.1,2 He was one of the sixteen who subscribe to the covenant of the First Church of Leominster, Massachusetts thus establishing it on 25 September 1743.2
Nathaniel Carter married Dorcus Spofford on 21 July 1758.2 Nathaniel Carter died on 20 July 1787 at Leominster, Massachusetts.1,2 He was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, Leominster, Massachusetts. Nathaniel's epitaph reads:
