Markwart III von Eppenstein , Lord of Eppenstein was born before 930.1 He was the son of Markwart II von Eppenstein , Count in the Lower Isar. Markwart III von Eppenstein's full titles were the Lord of Eppenstein; Count in the Ufga, Viehbachgau, and Mürzta; and Margrave of Upper Carinthia, and the Carinthian Mark on the Mur.2

In Pavia there is a donation note from 970, after the emperor Otto I in the county of his margrave Markwart in Ostland goods located, namely a farm at Uduleniduor (slaw, German: Nidrinhof, now Frauental an der Laßnitz ) with 50 king shoals to free Choice, the adjacent Susil / Sausal forest, the city Zuib / Sulm / Altenmarkt and the adjacent village Lipnizza / Leibnitz the Archbishop Friedrich I of Salzburg donates.2 Markwart III von Eppenstein , Lord of Eppenstein died between 995 and 1000.1
