     Lothair I ~ Holy Roman Emperor was born circa 795.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Louis I the Pious ~ Holy Roman Emperor and Ermengarde of Hesbaye. Lothair was crowned King of Italy in 817.2

Lothair I ~ Holy Roman Emperor married Ermengarde of Orleans, daughter of Hugh II le Méfiant ~ Comte de Tours and Aba, on 15 October 821.1,2,4 Lothair was crowned the Emperor of the West in 840.2 By the Treaty of Verdun in 843, the Carolingian Empire was divided into three kingdoms, with Charles the Bald receiving the West Frankish Kingdom, Lothar receiving the Kingdom of Lothar, and Louis the German receiving the East Frankish Kingdom. He died on 29 September 855 at Prüm, Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.1,2,3,4
