     Saint Arnulf , Bishop of Metz was born circa 13 August 582 at Austrasia.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Duke Bodegisel II , Governor of Aquitaine and Oda. He was brought up by his great-uncle, Saint Gondoule, who was Mayor of the Palace of Thiebert II, a Merovingian king. Later he was viceroy of his uncle.3,6

Saint Arnulf , Bishop of Metz married Dode, daughter of Arnwald ~ Bishop of Metz, circa 596.1,2,6,3 He was the Mayor of the Palace and tutor to King Dagobert.5,1,2,6,3,4 Circa 611, he was Mayor of the Palace to King Thiebert.3 Saint Arnulf , Bishop of Metz was entered holy orders, and shortly after was made the Bishop of Metz. He retained many of his secular activities.3,1,2,6 He was present at the Church Council at Metz in 625.6 He was retired at Remiremont Abbey, Remiremont, France; as Bishop of Metz, and retired to the Abbey in Remirmont.6 He died on 16 August 641 at Remiremont, France.1,2,6,3,4,5
