     Erwig ~ King of the Visigoths in Spain was born circa 643.1 Erwig ~ King of the Visigoths in Spain was also known as Ervigio ~ King of the Visigoths in Spain.2 Erwig's name was also spelt Flavius Ervigiu in Latin.2

Erwig ~ King of the Visigoths in Spain married Liubigotona, daughter of Suintila and Teodora de Coimbra.2 Erwig was crowned the King of the Visigoths in Hispania on 14 October 680.3 After falling seriously ill, Erwig proclaimed his son-in-law Ergica, the husband of his daughter Cixilo, as his heir on 14 November 687 and retired to a monastery as a penitent the next day, after giving leave to his court to return to Toledo with Egica for the anointing and crowning.3 He died on 15 November 687 at Toledo, Castile–La Mancha, Spain.1
