     Cerdic ~ King of the West Saxons was born circa 467 at Saxony.1 He was the son of Elesa. Cerdic,then a Saxon Earldorman, and his son Cynric landed in the area of Southhampton in 495, and then moved north into what is now Hampshire and Wiltshire to found The Kingdom of the West Saxons or Wessex. According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle: "A.D. 495. This year came two leaders into Britain, Cerdic and Cynric, his son, with five ships.1,2,3" Cerdic was proclaimed, in 519, the King of the West Saxons in Winchester, Hampshire, England. According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle: "A.D. 519. This year Cerdic and Cynric undertook the government of the West Saxcons; the same year they fought with the Britons at a place called Charford. From that day have reigned the children of the West Saxon kings.1,2,3" He died in 534.1,2,3
