Jean-Pierre Melanson was the son of Pierre Melanson and Rosalie Blanchard.1
Jean-Pierre Melanson married Hennrette-Geneviève Haché dite Anne, age 19 , daughter of Charles Haché dit Gallant and Geneviève Lavergne, on 7 January 1761 at Restigouche, New Brunswick, New France.1 Jean-Pierre and Hennrette-Geneviève lived on 21 June 1772 at Bathurst, Colony of Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick), British North America, where they had a child christened.1
