Modeste Arsenault was born on 2 November 1771 at Rivière à l'Anguille, Colony of Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick).1 She was the daughter of Jean-François Arseneau and Anne Poirier.1
Modeste married first on 2 November 1791 at Restigouche County, New Brunswick, Canada, Louis Bujold, the son of François-Placide Bujold and Marie-Joseph Bernard. He was born in 1766 in Bonaventure, Québec, Canada and died in 1796 in Carleton-sur-mer, Québec, Canada.
