Captain Asa Powers was born on 30 January 1766 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Asa Powers and Resinah Wheeler.
Captain Asa Powers, age 21, married Lois Felton, age 22 , daughter of Lt. James Felton and Sarah Holton, on 27 January 1788 at New Salem, Massachusetts.
During the War of 1812, Asa was a Captain of an infantry company, which was part of Lt. Col. Longley's Regiment. The company was raised in New Salem and served in Boston from 18 September to 7 November 1814.1 Captain Asa Powers died on 19 May 1846 at New Salem, Massachusetts, at age 80.1
