Ellen Sullivan was born on 5 August 1856 at St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.1,2 She was the daughter of Florence Michael Sullivan and Ann Hanlon.1
Ellen Sullivan, age 24, married Sgt. Richard Cleary, age 29 on 4 May 1881 at the St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ellen, age 64 years, and Richard Cleary, age 69 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1921 at St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.2 Ellen Sullivan died on 21 November 1926 at St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, at age 70.1 Ellen's obituary of 22 November 1926, reads:
CLEARTY - Passed peacefully away 10 A.m., Sunday, Ellen Sullivan, beloved wife of Richard Cleary, ex-Sergt. Nfld. Constabulary; husband, 4 sons, and 3 daughters. Funeral on Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m., from her son-in-law's residence, 143 Casey Street. Friends please accept this the only intimation. - R.I.P.
