Jonathan Tyler was born on 6 July 1742 at Haverhill, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Jonathan Tyler and Rebecca Morse.1
Jonathan Tyler married Mercy Hackett, daughter of Henry Hackett and Mary Clough.
On 15 May 1775, he enlisted in Captain Merrill's company, Colonel Phinney's regiment of Foot. He wrote his wife from Boston 25 June 1777 stating that he had entered hospital on 19 April 1777 with small pox and was released 18 June 1777.1 Jonathan Tyler was the administrator of an unknown person estate on 11 July 1783 at New Gloucester, Maine, by Moses Hackett.1
