     Eliphalet Morse was born in 1757 at Falmouth (now Portland), Maine.1 He was the son of Deacon Anthony Moss and Hannah Merrill. He served three times during the Revolutionary War between 1777 and 1780.2 Eliphalet Morse and Sally Riggs filed marriage intentions on 29 March 1787 at Falmouth (now Portland), Maine.3

Eliphalet Morse married Sally Riggs, age 18 , daughter of Stephen Riggs and Margaret Barbour, on 26 April 1787 at Falmouth (now Portland), Maine.4,5 Eliphalet, appeared on the US Census of 1830 at Waterford, Maine. The enumeration reads:

1 - Free White Persons - Males - 60 thru 69
1 - Free White Persons - Females - 60 thru 69
2 - Total Free White Persons
2 - Total - All Persons (Free White, Slaves, Free Colored.)6


In 1833 he submitted an application for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service while living in Waterford, Maine.2 His name appears on the pension roll of 1835.7
