     William Mayo was born on 20 February 1817 at Orange, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Stephen Mayo and Mary Cheney.1 William was He was a carriage maker for a number of years.1 Williammoved to Westminster, Massachusetts, in 1841.1

William Mayo, age 26, married Maria Goddard, age 26 , daughter of Martin Goddard and Sylvia Johnson, on 13 June 1843 at Orange, Massachusetts.

William was the Representative to the Massachusetts General Court for Westminster and Gardner in 1859.1 William was When the Westminster National Bank was formed in 1875, he became a cashier. He later served as a trustee for the Worcester North Saving Institute of Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 1875.1 He was a Westminster Selectman for several years, the Town Clerk for twelve years, and the Town Treasurer for one year.1 He died on 24 September 1911 at Westminster, Massachusetts, at age 94.1 He was buried on 26 September 1911 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster, Massachusetts.
