     Jonathan Ward was born on 29 October 1748 at Newton, Massachusetts. He was the son of Timothy Ward and Margaret Woodward. Jonathan Ward and Mary Pond filed marriage intentions on 20 September 1772 at Newton, Massachusetts.

Jonathan Ward, age 23, married Mary Pond, age 23 , daughter of Joshua Pond and Jane Ball, on 4 October 1772 at Newton, Massachusetts.

3. Samuel Ward (1777-____.)


Jonathan and Mary joined the Church at Dedham, Massachusetts, on 25 January 1773. Jonathan and Marymoved to Athol, Massachusetts, in 1774. They settled in that part of Athol, which became Orange.

Jonathan Ward, age 28, married Sarah Twitchell on 15 March 1777 at Athol, Massachusetts.

He was a member of the committee setup to plan for the new town of Orange. Between 1786 and 1787, he was a Selectman for the District of Orange. Jonathan Ward died on 6 December 1797 at Orange, Massachusetts, at age 49. He was buried on 16 December 1797 at North Orange Cemetery, Orange, Massachusetts. Jonathan's epitaph reads:

Mr. Jonathan Ward
died
Dec. 26, 1797
in the 50th year
of his age.
