     Ensign Abner Whitney was born on 17 November 1744 at Roxbury, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Jonas Whitney and Sarah Perry.1 In 1767, he was taken into the household of Abraham Jackson.2

Ensign Abner Whitney, age 23, married Esther Jackson, age 19 , daughter of Abraham Jackson and ______ Mary Hide, on 21 March 1768 at Newton, Massachusetts.

He served in Captain Wiswell's Company which was raised in Newton, Massachusetts. He was promoted to Sergeant. Later during the war, he was promoted to Ensign.1 He was granted a pension for is Revolutionary War service on 13 April 1818. He was residing in Windsor County, Vermont at that time.1 Ensign Abner Whitney died on 6 January 1826 at Windsor County, Vermont, at age 81.1
