     Deacon Nathaniel Goddard was born on 16 July 1751 at Petersham, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Nathan Goddard and Dorothy Stevens.

Deacon Nathaniel Goddard married Thankful Woodward, daughter of Jonathan Woodward and Mary Brown, in 1773 at Warwick, Massachusetts.

He was elected a Selectman for the Town of Orange from 1783 to 1784.4 Deacon Nathaniel Goddard died on 8 December 1816 at Orange, Massachusetts, at age 65.5 He was buried at North Orange Cemetery, Orange, Massachusetts. Nathaniel's epitaph reads:
