     Paul Wheeler was born on 13 July 1828 at Rutland, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Captain Rowland Wheeler and Lydia Gates.1 Paul Wheelerappeared on the US Census of 1850 in the household of Captain Rowland Wheeler and Lydia Gates at Rutland, Massachusetts.3

Paul Wheeler married Mary Jane Smith, daughter of George Smith and Harriet A. ______, circa August 1859 at Sterling, Massachusetts. 1. Mary E. Wheeler (1851-____)
2. Hiram Edward Wheeler (1860-____.)2 In 1860, he owned a mill on the site of the first grist mill of Rutland which was burnt by the Indians. He also manufactured hickory and oak farm tools handles.4 Captain Rowland Wheeler was the administrator of Paul Wheeler's estate on 4 February 1868 at Worcester County, Massachusetts.5

Paul Wheeler, age 58, married Helen E. Dean, daughter of Erastus Dean and Amelia Gates, on 28 April 1887 at Rutland, Massachusetts. They were married by the Rev. George S. Dodge.2 Paul Wheeler died on 22 November 1914 at Rutland, Massachusetts, at age 86.1
