Silas Reed was born on 15 December 1762 at Rutland, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Benjamin Reed and Mary Muzzy.
Silas married first on 9 January 1785 at Rutland, Massachusetts, Eleanor Hunter. She was born in 1785 in New Braintree, Massachusetts, and died in 1827.2
Silas Reed married Zillah Partridge, daughter of Samuel Partridge and Elizabeth McIntire, in 1828. Silas Reed, age 87 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1850 at Oakham, Massachusetts.3 According to the Federal Census in 1850, Silas was a farmer.3 He died on 27 August 1855 at Oakham, Massachusetts, at age 92.1 He was buried at South Cemetery, Oakham, Massachusetts. Silas's epitaph reads:
