Charles Allen was born on 24 September 1791 at Hunterdon County, New Jersey.2 He was the son of Isaac Allen and Lenner Polhemus.
Charles Allen married Rachel Porter, daughter of George Porter and Catherine Riddell, in 1822.1 Charles, appeared on the US Census of 1830 at Lebanon, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The enumeration reads:
He, age 58 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1850 at Armstrong Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.4 According to the Federal Census in 1850, Charles was a farmer.4 He, age 78 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1870 at Armstrong Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.5 Charles was a retired farmer in 1870.5 He, age 88 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1880 at Armstrong Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.6 According to the Federal Census in 1880, Charles was a widower.6 He died on 1 May 1882 at age 90.2 Charles's obituary of 5 May 1882, reads:
Charles Allen, one of the oldest residents of Lvooming county, died on Monday, aged 91 years. The deceased was the father of Ex-State Senator U. P. Allen.7 He was buried at Williamsport Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Charles's epitaph reads:
