     Gerret Cornelisse van Nieeuwkirk was born circa 1635. He was the son of Mattheuse Cornelissen van Nieeuwkirk.2

Gerret Cornelisse van Nieeuwkirk married Chieltje Cornelissen Slecht.1,2 Gerret Cornelisse van Nieeuwkirk and Chieltje Cornelissen Slecht immigrated on 25 April 1659 arriving at Long Island, New Netherland, from the Netherlands on board the Moesman with one boy and a sucking child.1 Gerret and Chieltje lived at Flatbush, Long Island, New York, after their arrival. Flatbush is no Brooklyn.2 Gerret and Chieltje joined the First Old Dutch Reformed Church, Brooklyn, New York.1 On 10 Marcch 1665, he sold his land in Flatbush.2 Gerret and Chieltjemoved to Hurley, Ulster County, New York.2
