Joseph Dugas was born in 1714 at Île Royale (now Cape Breton), Acadia, New France.1 He was the son of Joseph Dugas and Marguerie Richard.1
Joseph married first in 1740 at Grand-Pré, Colony of Nova Scotia, British North America, Marguerite LeBlanc, the daughter of Joseph LeBlanc and Anne Bourg. She was born 14 June 1723 in St-Charles-des-Mines, Grand-Pré, Acadia and died before 13 February 1752 in Port-Toulouse, Acadia.1
Joseph Dugas married Louise Arsenault, daughter of Abraham Arsenault and Jeanne Gaudet, on 2 October 1762 at Chedabucto Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada.1 Joseph Dugas died on 10 January 1779 at Saint-Servan, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, France.1
