     Benjamin Eddy was born on 30 November 1707 at Watertown, Massachusetts.2,3,1,4 He was the son of Samuel Eddy and Elizabeth Woodward.1 Benjamin was a tailor in 1731 at Newton, Massachusetts.2,3,1,5 He and Elizabeth Truesdale filed marriage intentions on 13 November 1733 at Newton, Massachusetts.6

Benjamin Eddy, age 25, married Elizabeth Truesdale, age 24 , daughter of Samuel Truesdale and Elizabeth Hammond, on 17 November 1733 at Newton, Massachusetts.

In 1735, he served as a Tithingman.5 He served as the Newton Hogreeve in 1739. He served as the Newton Hogreeve again in 1745.5 In 1744, he was the Hayward.5 He was appointed a Constable in 1747.5 He was the Sealer of Weights and Measures for Newton in 1752 and 1753. He served as the Sealer again in 1756 and 1758.5

Benjamin Eddy, age 45, married Hannah Day on 12 April 1753 at Newton, Massachusetts.1,2,3,5,6 He was a member of the School Committee in 1757.5 He was the Surveyor of Highways in 1758, which office he served again in 1764.5 In 1763, he was a Warden.5 He was the Surveyor of Wheat and Flour in 1764.5 He was the Overseer of the Workhouse in 1766.5 He marched to the alarm on 19 April 1775 (Lexington and Concord) though he was then 68 years old. He was a private in Capt. Amariah Fuller's Company. Between 9 December 1776 and 18 December 1776, he served with Lt. Joseph Craft's Company in the siege of Boston.1 In 1777, Benjamin Eddy lent the town of Newton £56 so that soldiers could be paid.3 He moved to Royalson, Massachusetts after the death of his second wife, Hannah Day.3 Benjamin Eddy died on 2 May 1799 at Newton, Massachusetts, at age 91.1,6
