James Sullivan was born at Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.1 He immigrated in 1780 to Newfoundland After immigration, he settled in King's Cove, Newfoundland.1 James was prominent in the establishment and growth of the fishing industry of King's Cove in the late 1st and early 19th centuries, recording Fishing Room 34 in Bonavista Bay in 1785.1
