     George Gladwin was christened on 23 March 1800 at Youlgreave, Derbyshire, England.1 He was the son of George Gladwin and Elin Parker.1

George Gladwin, age 23, married Elizabeth Gilbert, age 20 , daughter of Joseph Gilbert and Esther Hardwick, on 19 May 1823 at Youlgreave, Derbyshire, England.2,3 George lived in 1836 at 39 Rusholme Road, Manchester, Lancashire, England, He was employed as a manager.4 He was inherited one shilling|in the will of his father-in-law in the will of in 1837.5

George Gladwin married Ann ______ at Youlgreave, Derbyshire, England. George Gladwin, 40 years, appeared as Head of Household on the English Census of 1841 at Manchester, Lancashire, England.6 He died on 12 September 1848 at Youlgreave, Derbyshire, England, at age 48.7 He was buried on 17 September 1848 at Saint Alkmund’s Church, Derby, Derbyshire, England.8 In his son's biography in Akron and Summit County, it is written that he "was ... a stone carver, doing beautiful stone work on cathedrals and other notable buildings in England."9
