Anthony Moss was born in 1752 at Falmouth (now Portland), Cumberland County, Maine.1,2,3 He was the son of Deacon Anthony Moss and Hannah Merrill. Anthony's name was also spelt Anthony Morse.
Anthony Moss married Susanna Elliot, age 20 , daughter of James Elliot and Margaret Gepson, on 4 March 1776.4 He served in Captain John Wentworth's Company, Col. Aaron Willard's Regiment in 1777, traveling to Fort Edward and back. He later served for three years in the Continental Army in Col. Jonathan Mitchell's Regiment.5,6 On 20 May 1780, Anthony bought 100 acres of land in Brunswick, Maine.7,4 Anthony, appeared on the US Census of 1790 at Brunswick, Cumberland County, Maine. The enumeration reads:
Anthony attended the first meeting of the Free-Will Baptist Society at James Elliot's house in Brunswick on 23 October 1799.7 Anthony, appeared on the US Census of 1800 at Brunswick, Cumberland County, Maine. The enumeration reads:
