     Captain Oliver Blanchard was born in 1726 at Grand-Pré, Colony of Nova Scotia, British North America.1,2 He was the son of René Blanchard and Marguerite Thériault.

Captain Oliver Blanchard married Catherine-Joséphe Amirault dite Mirau, daughter of Pierre Amireau and Anne Brun, circa 1752.1 Oliver was a carpenter.1 The government of Nova Scotia, on 29 March 1784, granted 14,150 acres in one block to thirty-four French families. He was one of them, making him one of the founders of Caraquet.3 He died on 16 August 1796 at Caraquet, New Brunswick, Canada.1,2 He was buried at Cimetière du Bocage, Caraquet, New Brunswick, Canada.2
