     William III Talvas , Count of Ponthieu and Montreuil was born in 1179.1,2,3 He was the son of Jean I , Count of Ponthieu and Montreuil and Beatrice of Saint Pol. He was William III, Count of Ponthieu, ruler of a small province in northern France that fell under the suzerainty of the dukes of Normandy (later the kings of England) since at least the mid 11th century.1,3

William III Talvas , Count of Ponthieu and Montreuil married Alys of France ~ Countess of Vexin, age 34 , daughter of Louis VII The Young King of France and Constance of Castile, on 20 August 1195.1,2,3 William was an important army commander in the Anglo-French War which lasted from 1202 to 1214.3 As part of the Albigensian Crusade, he commanded the right wing for the French at the Battle of Bouvines on 27 July 1214.1,3 William III Talvas , Count of Ponthieu and Montreuil died on 4 October 1221 at France.1,2,3
