     Ramiro II the Monk , King of Navarre and Aragon was born in 1075.1 He was the son of Sancho Ramirez I , King of Aragon and Felicie de Roucy. Between 1093 and 1134, he was a monk, and was Bishop of Roda-Barbastre in 1134. He had to resign from his religious vocation to give continuity to the dynasty of the Ximenes when his brother died without descendants.2 Ramiro was crowned the King of Navarre and Aragon in 1134.1

Ramiro II the Monk , King of Navarre and Aragon married Matilda of Aquitaine, daughter of William VII the Troubadour Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitou and Philippa of Toulouse , Regent of Toulouse, on 13 November 1135.1,3,2 Ramiro abdicated in 1137 and returned to the cloister.1 He died on 16 August 1157 at Huesca, Aragon, Spain.1 He was buried at Abbey of San Pedro el Viejo, Huesca, Aragon, Spain.2
