Fulbert, who was probably a tanner, has been described as "polinctor" which translates more readily as "embalmer", or one who prepares corpses for burial, but the tradition is strong that he was a tanner. Falaise, Normandy was famous for its tanneries.1 Fulbert of Falaise and Dode were in a relationship that produced offspring.2
